CABNIVAL AND BAZAAR
OPENING THURSDAY AFTERNOON Preparations for ,he Xmas Carnival ami Bazaar at the Drill Shed are now in full swing. Yesterday and to-day the carpenters have been busily engaged in preparing the stalls, and there is a busy scene there, decorating and arranging lor thu display ot the great ai ray of goods of every description gathered together lor thi- long looked I'm event. This Christmas Carnival and Bazaar nhicli opens on Thursday afternoon will be continued oveiy afternoon and evening, and theie will be displayed such a gorgeous and attractive lot of articles of every description that will all ran and please. The fancy goods lor sale will be equa; to anything ot the sort ever made Itoic, gifts coining from all parts ot New Zealand, while tin- quality and tastelul work will prove a great attraction, especially to the lair sex. The men will lie also liberally catered for, while the younger people will find many novelties to attract their spare coins. For monlbs past the energetic members of the committee of stall holders and their miineious supporters have been gathering goods tor !he occasion, and the display to be made at the Drill Shed should prove a most attractive one, and draw a lragc attendance. The opening ceremony on Thursday afternoon will 1)0 carried out by the .Mayor (Mr G. A. Perry), and the ( oiint.v Chairman (Mr 11. Ward)) at 3 o’clock.
