ARAHURA SALE YARDS. At the above Yards yesterday there were lfil sheep and lambs and frf> bead of vettlo submitted to public auction, there being the usual attendance of buyers present. The uncertainty of the meat market was keenly reflected throughout the sale, prices being considerably easier than those recorded previously. Gompetition for lambs "as restricted to about 5.Jd per lb., several butchers present stating they could buy them in the paddock at this price. Ihe result being that prices showed a marked decline on those of previous years. Beef was also easier ranging from 20s to 30s per hundred for ox. while cow and heifer beef ranged from Cl to 2Gs. per hundred. Messrs .Jeffries and Co. report the following sales: 'On account Mr \Y. Wall, * tat ewes at Cl. 28 lambs at 17s 3d. On account Mr X. Friend, 13 ewes and wethers at 20s fid.. 20 fat lambs at 17s.

Cattle—On account Mr .T. D. Mackay, 1 bullock at CO, 1 heifer at C 8 15s, 1 at £8 2s fid.. 2 at £B,-2 at C 7 17s fid, 1 at C 7. On account Mr W. 11. TCarnbach., 3 light steers, at 2s fid. On account Air H. Tlevcldt, 2 bullocks at CIO 10s. 2 at £lO 55., 2 at CO 7s fid. On account Mr TI. Karnbaeli, 3 bullocks at CO 55., 2 at £7 7s 6, 1 at Cti 10s.. 1 heifer at £B. A line of 21 heifers were passed at ,C 5 15s and 2 pens of lambs at 17s. Messrs M. Houston and Co. report:— We held a special Xmas sale of fat si-,;!, at the above yauls yr ue.day. our en.ry consisting of 10 bead of tat cattle and 11 prime lambs. Competition was not. so good as at the prev.ous sale and although the quality of the yarding was very good, pi ices receded til the level of those ruble.' a few .-ales ago. Lambs and sheep sold well.
