AUSTRAL lAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. TRAGEDY IN ROME. NEPHEWS MURDER THEIR AUNT. ROAIE, December 15. Dressed and bejewelled and seemingly ready for the theatre or a dance the dead bodies of a millionairess, Mrs Cogo and her adopted daughter were found seated at a dining table in a house in Rome. The police were informed by a servant girl who made an extraordimury statement.
She said that Airs Cogo had three nephews, all university students, who were apprehensive that their aunt’s** fortune would go to the adopted daughter. The nephews broke into the house suffocated the women in their beds and A then dressed the hod is and carried them to the dining room. Afterwards they lit the fire to create the impression that they were suffocated By the fumes. Hie servant said she watched the proceedings from a hiding place. The nephews and their father have been arrested. SILESIAN BOUNDARY. LONDON. Dee. 19. Advices from Ivattowitz stato that tile Boundaries Commission has awarded to Poland the Friendshute district of Beuthen, whose mines and factories are the best in Upper Silesia. THE HULL FLOODS. LONDON, Dec. 19 The tide floods have swept over manv towns on the East Coast of England and Scotland, and notably Grimsby, Dundee and Droughty Ferry. At the last-named place, vessels were swept into the streets where the craft were moored to the lamp-posts. * SOLD AS SLAVE. PARIS, Dec. 18. Advices front Turin, in North Italy, state that the mother of Signorita Bulaleti, who supposedly was among the victims when the Italian steamer Ancona was submarined, in November, of 1915, has now been informed, that her daughter was rescued by a Turkish boat. She was taken to Turkey, and there sold as a slave. Her relatives have vainly attempted to secure her release. They are now appealing to the Queen of Italy to assist them. It is further ascertained that the missing Italian young woman, Signorita Bulaliti, on being taken to Turkey, was handed over to the Sultan, and is now liis favourite wife.
FRENCH MISSION TO ENGLAND. LONDON, Dec. IS. -M. llriand, French Premier, who is now on a visit to England to consult the British Government, is accompanied by M. Loucher, and a formidable array of French financial and economic experts.
It is stated that M. Louchier, who signed the Wiesbaden agreement (whereunder Germany agreed to pay 7,000,000,000 gold marks to France within four years) has devised a new scheme to deal with the German debt. This scheme will he submitted to the Allies, after the present discussions with Mr Lloyd George. LONDON, Dec. IS. The French Premier, M. Brinud, lias arrived in London to-night. He was received by Mr A. Chamberlain and Sir R. Horne.
ANGLO-FRENCH LONDON, Dec. 19 The London Daily Express Paris correspondent says: “It is suggested here that Mr Lloyd George has alleged that France has grossly overestimated the charges for the reconstruction of the devastated areas; also that 31. Louoheur has admitted the charges were ; unduly high. ’ ' LONDON, Dec. 19 In regard to the meeting of Mr Lloyd George and M. Briand. one interseting proposal for discussion will be that of the employment of oO.fkOO “ritish workers in the French devastated areas.
