Churchill reply inn to Mr Newton Moore, said he could not say whether M’eigall or Allardyce had resigned their Governorships iii consequence of heavy English taxation. Mr Moore asked whether, in future appointments a. guarantee, will he obtained from Governors designate, in order to prevent a repetition of such unsatisfactory conditions. Mr Churchill said the question was difficult, in view of the heavy expenditure involved by these appointments and the difficulty of finding suitable persons with sufficient private means. Five of a destroyer’s crew were injured and one is dying as the result of the Panama-Graham collision. RUSSIAN RETdEK. LONDON. December 17. The British Red Cross Society has announced that it has secured the services of Sir Benjamin Robertson, an Indian famine expert, who is to proceed to Russia forthwith tn control the English famine relief work there. The Society states it is satisfied that this will assure all contributors in England and overseas that all money and goods subscribed will reach the neediest people.
M. Krnssin recently appealed against a decision, awarding to the Fenton Textile Association C1A.638 for goods delivered to the Russian co-operative society. who M. Krnssin had represented. The appeal was oil the ground that he was immune from services of legal process in England. Tlie Appeal Court ruled that M. Krassin’s position, as official agent, under the trade agreement, did not give him immunity from , ivil process. It has dismissed the appeal.
