FRIDAY, DEC. lGth. The Council mot at 7.45 p.m. Present:—Messrs G. A. Perry (Mayor), King, Blank, Rilkington, Parkhill, McGregor, Lloyd, Perliam. The minutes were confirmed and outward corespondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Hon Minister of Public Works, . Wellington, acknowledging resolution i of Council in reference to rough road to { Blenheim. f From Department of Health, ChristI church, circular in reference to plague ! precautions and notifying action that should ho taken at once to destroy rats; ordering Council to appoint an official rat catcher for the Borough.— Received. From F. Varney, District 1 inspector of Health conveying recommendation . for Council to take action in connection with the collection and destruction of rubbish. —Received. Air .'Pilkington thought they should take steps at home before going outside and to ! arrange for the cleaning up of thp Town Hall upstairs; and that steps 1 should be at once taken to collect regttI larly, tho refuse of the town and have it destroyed. Mr Parkhill stated that on the north town belt in close vieinl ity to propertv here were dumps of rub- ! hisb placed that should be stopped. Mr I Blank thought that active steps should

I It. was resolved that the Council supply free poison to the ratepayers, an enquiry to be made to the Health Department. for a supply of a poison that would not be dangerous to the people.
