A STABBING affray. WELLINGTOU, December 17. A stabbing affray took place las J t evening on the steamer Eastern Moon, in consequence of wlridi l/t-wis >Si,minds, an ahle-scamaii. received two wounds in the hack which necessitated ' his removal to the hospital, ft ap- , pears an argument arose and some crockery was thrown about. During | the disturbance if is alleged a member j of tlie crew picked up il broad knife and stabbed Simumls twice in the. small of the hack. Some one promptly knocked out his assailant and he became a casualty. A fireman was also hurt in the fracas receiving injuries t„ the head. Dr Corkhill it attending the injured men. Simunds was able to walk from tho steamer to the ambulance but the other man had to be carried <> n stretcher. The fireman remained on the steamer. The man alleged tol have caused the trouble was taken by the police, as lie is not thought to he very seriously injured and was locked up on a ehaigo of assault ami causing actual bodily iharm. Simunds is progressing L'v- | ourahly.
