The Crimes Amendment Bill taking away the right of women concerned in abortion eases to refuse to give evidence and Families Protection Amend' ment Bill giving the Court discretionary powers in the matter of granting an extension of time within which application may he- made, and Maintenance Orders Faieilities for enforcement Rill were put through tlie final stages and passed. The Council rose at 3.48 p in. TIIE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. In the House, the Main Highways Bill was read a second time pro forma and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee, Inspection of Machinery Amendment Bill was read a second time. Municipal Corporations Amendment Bill and Mental Defectives Amendment Bill were put through all stages and passed. Public Contrctsi and Local Bodies Contractors Amendment Bill was read a second lima. The Finance Bill was brought down by Governor’s message and read n first tim#. The House rose at 11.15 p.m.
