The “Referee” publishes a remarkaide study and appreciation and a strik-j ing portrait of Cook, recalling .Tack London’s famous boxing story. “The Absyma] Brute.” likening Conk to tho character. The “Referee” says: “Cook, is in perfect condition. He is white all through, and does not possess a yellow streak. He is as tough and ready fighter in the sense that he is not a polished boxer He is as tough as the teak lie is so fond of cutting down with an axe. The man who meets Carpentier is “The Absyma] Brute” come to life. Tie will go down to posterity as a natural fighter with a horn aptitude for the game. He grew 1111 fighting, and has fought ever since.”
