WELLINGTON. Dec. 3 The progress return as at 20fh November shows:
Employment.-—The Department has placed 26, (KM discharged .soldiers in employment and there are at the present time 302 names oil the "Employment Wanted” Register (Auckland 78, W’ellington 123, Canterbury 63, Otago 38). It was necessary, during the months, to pay unemployment sustenance in one case of hardship.
Training.—ln addition In 1.391 students who have been assisted linai'ciai!y with grants for the payment of fees and the purchase of textbooks the Department has arranged vocational training lor .).91>3 partiallv disabl-d soldiers, apprentic s etc., and ,X>B3 <3 this number have completed then comscs and have been absorbed in various industries. There are now only 820 still being trained. During the past month 16 men commenced training and 109 completed their courses and obtained employment. The total amount expended to date on the provision of facilities for training and for the sustenance of trainees is £368,819. financial Assistance. Loans to assist discharged soldiers to establish themselves in businesses or piolTssion ■ have been granted in .A. 986 cases at a cost of CM .107.106.
