F’AKMKKS 'ND MOHTGAGKS. WKI.I.INGTON, Dec 8 A deputation i)i' tin* Dairy Farmers’ Union to the Prime Minister to-day, asked for a reduction where necessary of 'mortgages and the rate of the interest. Mr Massey, while refusing to admit the deputation was right in its statement that scores of farmers had loft their farms, said the problem was oxrmjrdinarily difficult, concerning which he would have to consult his colleagues. The deputation suggested that a Commission should Ik? appointed to investigate the position, hut Mr Massey did not think this was necessary. Ho was prepared, however, to give the services of an experienced officer to/ assist in bringing about an agreement in eases where the mortgagee and mortgagor were willing to negotiate.
