'IJio death occurred at Westport on Monday morning of Mr J. H. Morlev who had been in ill-health for some time. Deceased was a native of l.’ngland, 62 years of age. He arrived in New /calami in 1879, was appointed Town Clerk and surveyor to the Borough ot Kuiapni and held the position for some years. I.atcr he held n similar position at St Albans, holding it until that Borough merged into greater Christchurch. Alter spending a holiday in the Old Country, Mr .Morlev retnincd lo New Zealand and took over tin' control of the Northern Brewery and Kawatiri Cordial Factory, which lie carried on until his demise. Prior to going to Westport he took an active lari in Lodge work, both as a- .Mason and as a Forester, being a P.M. of the Southern Cross Masonic Lodge and a, C.lt. of tile Foresters' Lodge. Deceased is survived l,v a widow, two sons (Mr A. E. Morlev. Mr M. Morlev) end otic daughter (Mrs T. Brown).
