[uv TEM'XiUAI’U —I*Kit I'ItUSS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Dec 7. THE COUNCIL. The Legislative Council met tit 2.30 p.ui. Motions of condolence were passed ielative to the deaths of lion Norheny of Auckland and Mr ,1. H. W. t : ru, member tor Southern Maori district. Nine local bills were received from the House of Ropresentaivcs, and were road a first time. Council rose 3.15 p.m. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. The afternoon sitting of the House was occupied wholly with formal business. during which Mr Massey ‘dated ,liis personal opinion wits that the House ’could n°t linislt before Xmas, though there was a very general desire amongst members that they should do so. At the evening sitting the Customs Kill was further considered in Committee and finally reported with amendments, which were agreed to. Tho House rose at 11.50 p.m.
