ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. A SLACK MARKET. (By Telegraph.— Special to uuardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, December S. Messrs Matson and Co. report as tntlows regarding their stock sale yesterday:— Store Sheep—A small yarding with no improvement. If anything the market showed a decline and in face of tho present fat sheep market and prospect of freezing prices not being likely to improve. Best shorn wethers from 10/6 to 11/3. shorn hoggets free 6/- to 7/6. l’.wcs and lambs in wool 6/0. ull counted. AYoolv wether hoggets 0/6 to 8/-, ditto owes up to 9/-. Store Cattle -A fair yarding, mostly nondescript lots. Otic lino of 3 and 4 i year olds very forward steers made CO to £0 10s. The demand for big cattle was weaker but any sorts of wellbred young cattle sold well at late ! rates. The market all round showed no quotable change from last week. Beef A smaller yarding titan last week, but quite enough for butchers requirements. Tho yarding included lines from the West Coast and North Island. The market again showed a drop especially for heavy sorts. Any prime humlv weights steer or good quality heifers were not so bad. Old cows were practically unsaleable. Prime steers £ll to £l2 55.. extra to CIS. uteri in m £8 to £lO 15s; others C 5 to £7 15s. Best heifers £7 10s to CD [ 15s; others £0 to £8 ss. Cows prime £5 to C 8 15s; others £3 to £-1 los; older and unfinished down to 355. Alutton -Although the yarding was a good deal smaller than last week, there were tno many for butchers requirements, especially following last week’s lie,avy yarding and another large entry of lambs. Very few good wethers yarded. The market opened slightly better titan last week especially for any good stuff, but towards the ond eased considerably. Prime wethers 17s to 205.; extra to 22s 7d ; medium Ms Off to 17s; others down to 11s. ■Best ewes to 18s. prime 12s Od to 10s; medium 9s 0d to 12s (id; others down to 6s. The lambs market owing to the large entry was Is' Od to 2s worse than last week'.
