A GREAT RECORD BY HOKITIKA FIRE BRIGADE MEMBERSIt is interesting to record, with the . practical closing of the parhdes for thl* year on Tuesday evening of members of the Hokitika Volunteer Eire Brigade, a wonderful record.oi service put up by three of the mcmliers, .each worthy and highly respected citizens of the town, over the long period of years. * It is notable that such record service has been put up and that each member is still a very active and valued member, attending practices and tires with a regularity that the younger members call im t excel. The three members whose record we give in detail below have a iengtli of service that it "ill he hard -to heat. All three wear the [ gold star of the X.Z. Eire Brigades : Association for 2d years service in ad- | dition to numerous liars for additional I .years of service. The combined-period j of service totals the very substantial one of 12d years. The particulars areas follows:

1 Foreman John Wallace, joined the, Brigade in 1874—47 yours’ service. Superintendent Win Braddfln, joined the Brigade in 1880—44 years’ service, i Foreman llobt. lloss, joined the Brigade in 1883 and after a break, rejoined in 1800 —87 years’ service. Tn additon to the above four other members have very lengthy service to their credit: Engineer Davidson, 1891 30 years; Fireman H. Thompson, 1893, 28. years, Fireman D. Davidson, 1893, 28 years; Fireman McGregor 1884, (with break), 31 years. With the exception of Fireman D. Davidson, each of tbe above also hold the gold star of tlie Association.
