Many pictures have dealt with the store of a gill who married to save her mother but “The Daughter Pays” from the novel by .Mrs lhiillie Reynolds deals with the subject from an entirely new viewpoint. The mother in this case practically sells the girl and the daughter pays the price. She is tempted to break away from the .bond which binds her to the man much older than herself but she remains true and pays ill full. The picture is a powerful dramatic story ol domestic lite. and gives an oppoilunity t" the clo'ii star. Elaine Hammerstein. do lll< ' best work of her career. For the future. starting on Wednesday, the Serial “Tile luvishle Hand” will be screened instead of Thursday.
On Thursday Pollard's are screening a double-star display “Lady Audloy’s Secret” and “The Turn in the Road, a Robinson-Colc production. Pollard’s symphony orchestra will plat a selected programme.
