This plant and the qualities oi milk in which it lias stooit have ticell known i,\ some medical ini’ll for years. Inn it was not iimil recently that the plant made its appearance here. ,\ few years ago. indeed, a local medical man enqniied lor a piece oi one, ulfering to fm it. To-day il is found in a remarkably large number of hollies, its distribution having Imcn made easy by the fact that a piece of plant broken off i. ill continue to grow rapidly, provided it is washed and placed ill Ircsli milk each day. The tact that milk thus ticared i- very similar to ordinary Imtler-milk in pinpoitiraml taste, may have some healing upon its wide use, seeing that butler-milk, particularly thill obtained ducc: Imm the churn immediately the butter lias solidified, lias long been regarded nut onlv as an excellent drink. Gut also as one containing tunic propei tics. From enquiry made in ainlnu italive quarters, it appears that this treated milk is valuable as an intestinal antiseptic. Tt acts as an uric acid eliminant, and therefore i< used by people suffering from i lieumat ism and sciatica. It has been proved to lie a good hotly builder. It is also pi escribed for indigestion. Tile plant resembles to some extent a piece of raulitlinver, though it is not so stiff. It is placed in a glass of fresh milk and left there for 91 hours, when the milk should he drained off and drunk.
