IUMUITK WINS DECISIVELY, j (By Telegraph.—Special to Cuardian.), WAN'D ANTI December 2. | Miss Mary O’Donnell topped tlio ‘ poll, by a large majority and was elected Queen of the Sports Carnival. • The voting for the Queen Carnival concluded last evening, and the result, was generally anticipated some weeks ago. that Miss Alary O’Donnell would head the list hv a substantial margin. Some idea of the enthusiasm shown in the contest may he gathered from the fact that upwards of £1,500 lias been realised towards the Wanganui Sports grounds funds. The order of candidate* is as follows :

Miss McNanght withdrew early in the campaign. The result was announced at an interval at His Majesty's Theatre. The chairman of the Carnival Committee (Mr Oakley Browne) was on the stage, where also was Mies O’Donnoll and her colleague Queens, Air J. Hnyilow, the Secretary of the Carnival Committee.
Afr Brown congratulated Aliss O’Donnell and thanked the public and those who had worked for the various Queens. The Sports bodies had set out t„ get Cl ,000 and they had got well over that amount. (Applause) It was a very satisfactory result. The Secretary thanked all the Quae ns and congratulated Aliss O'Donnell on her success. (Applause). Air F. Haywood on behalf of the Rugby Union congratulated Atiss O’Donnell and attributed the result largely to her personally and popularity. It was very gratifying to know that the object of the Carnival had been achieved.
A large crowd outside of the theatre was addressed from the balcony by Mr Brown and other speakers, while there was an insistent call for Miss O’Donnell who after persuasion stepped to the front. She gaily waved one hand and said “I thank you all very much indeed.”
