The House met at 2.fio p.m. Eormal business proeeoded in the House till 2.54 when the Premier rose ami said he had been informed that Mr I'm menilier for Southern ATaori district had just died, and tie thought there was only one thing to do and that was to adjourn as a mark of respect to the memory of the deceased member of whom lie spoke in feeling terms. He moved House adjourn till T.fiO pm. which agreed to and the House rose at 8 p.m. The House resumed at 7.30 p.m.
The Shops and Offices- Bill was introduced by Governor-Gen end’s message was read a first time pro forma and referred to the Labour Bills Committee. The Customs resolution embodying further alterations in the tariff were introduced and adopted. Mr Massey moved the second reading of the Customs Amendment Bill which was agreed to after a lengthy debate and the House rose at midnight.
