Some interesting figures regarding the press of the Dominion were given iit the Chamber of Commerce dinner nt Cliristehnrch by Mr l{. C. Bishop, in proposing the tonst of 'The Press.” Hr Bishop said that he had found there were 230 papers published in New Zealand, which was in proportion of one to every dOO inhabitants. Tlliminating those wose ages were under Id. the proportion was equal to one to every 3700 people. He had also ascertained from returns supplied by the Post Office that 3d} millions of newspapers were handled bv the Department in a veer.
