Ministers, as well as members, have been hearing the threats of resistanceto reductions on the* part of railwaymen, and possibly also the Post and Telegraph employees. These threats will not cause any change of plans. Cabinet is fully convinced that a part of the hig increase made in the civil service salaries during recent years lias got to come off again, and it is looking confidently for the support of Parliament in the matter.
