Commencing at tin- Princess theatre to-night is "Westward Ho!’’ I nun tbe famous story by ( buries l\ ingsler. Tlio .settings of the story are true to the style and atmosphere of the Elizabethan period and the time when the sea dogs of England were the national heroes of the country and it was every school boy’s, ambition to go to the Spanish Main and light for Old Engiand. The story tells how Amyas Leigh went to sea with dohti Oxcnham to hunt the Spaniard, how they tell in with a Spanish (!silicon and captured him. Then Amyas returned and found that the girl of his heart had lied to Spain with Don Guzman, and swearing revenge, Amyas went oil to find hoi. Then came tin* great chance with the coming of the battle between England and Spain-the rout of the Spaniard ( and the great storm. Tin* production is all-Knglish. "Westward llo!” has probably been read by every school bov who has a Ifritish backbone, and all who have read the story will appreciate to the full this fine tale of English sen dogs, Spanish Galleons and fights on the Spanish Main. There is an all star cast in the feature, including Hence Kelly as Hose Salterne, C’h ties Ouartermain. as Don Guzman, am many others who all play their roles in great style. The picture contains much that is s|x*ctaculnr, the Armada light, the rout of the Spaniard, and the great storm which arose and complet 'd the victory of the English over he,- mortal enemy. The suppoitmg subjects are the latest Co-operative Weekly News and a Pa the comedy entitled '"Anv Old Holt.” The orchestra will supply a line selected musical pmgramme.
