WEST AUSTRALIA’S EXPERIMENT SYDNEY, Nov. 9. In a bold bid for the extensive trade available in tlie near Eastern countries of Java and Sumatra and the lessor islands of the Dutch East indies, also with the Straits Settlements, the Western Australian Government lias embarked 11)1011 the experiment of fitting out and despatching a trade ship. A strong official delegation, headed by die .Minister-Tor Industry (Mr Scnddon) will alford all information to the officials and traders ot the countries visited, and their efforts will he aided hv a wide range of samples which have been attractively displayed on hoard. The project arose out of a personal invitation to pay a visiL which Mr Sca'dilon received from the Government of thp Straits Settlements. It so happened that the State steamer Kagnaroo was about to become engaged in n icgulnr trade with the North-West of Western Australia, and also with the East Indies, and the idea suggested itself into extending her initial trip into an organised trade delegation.
