MEDICAL PROFESSION
AUCKLAND, Nov. 15. The growth of specialisation and team work in the medical pmlessiou was tho subject of comment yesterday by Mr
Kenneth Mackenzie, in an address at the Rotary Club’s gathering. The adoption of team work, which came into prominence during the Great. War, be said, was the outcome of realisation that, a specialist, however highly quaillied. was apt to lake a. one-sided view' of li ease. At least two of the great London hospitals had established teams, at the head of one which was an Aucklander. Mr C. C. Clioyce. Teams had also been made up in private plai t ice. The growing popularity of medicine as a profession was referred to also. Speaking of the possibility of the health of
lilt* |>llf)|ic UCIIIJ4 Sliruiiiliuni in iniuif by a periodical medical examination of the whole community, lie said apparently there would very shortly lie an ample supply of doctors to undertake even such a great) work. Medical schools 11,,11.,1Mn11 i lie i’himire were filled as
(■•hey neve,' were before. Probably there wero at present a sufficient num-
ber of New Zealand students in training to replace the whole medical profession of the country ill less than ten years, and the active life ol a doctor was a good deal lunger than the period inent inur'd.
