The Westland Land Board was engaged yesterday afternoon for the best part of alt hour hearing an application for a T.G.L. at Waitnha. Objection was made to the grant by the present hpldcr, the applicant claiming that the holder’s title did not .cover all the land in question. Counsel and agent for the respective parties had a lengthy word battle, and on one occasion there was some heat shown and a disparaging remark was made by counsel as to the action of a Government inspecting officer. This was at ones* over-ruled by the Commissioner, who stated he had every confidence in his officer t Ultimately the Commissioner made it suggestion in favour of grunting an area not covered bv the objector’s title. This was refused by the applicant who stated the area was useless as it was all swamp and there was no dry ground as an outlet therefrom included in the suggested grant ’Jhe Board then resolved to refuse the application in toto.
