In it lie said that he had had a eonsideralde amount ol liquor before leaving Napier and wished to make a voluntary statement of what lie remrmhereil while driving to Hustings. If lie had pulled tip everybody would have realised it was an accident. Whether it was shock nr what he lid not know what- made him keep going. A charge of manslaughter was laid, and accused was remanded to appear at Napier tin Monday. Bail was allowed, self in £SOO and two sureties of ,£2-50 each. Davies is a married man with four children, and in good circumstances. The affair has caused great interest in the district.
