The Christchurch “Press” of Friday gives the following particulars of a former West Coaster’s death, which we announced on Friday.— "Air John Frederick Free, who has been in business at Southbridge for sonic years as a batcher and baker, died yesterday morning from apoplexy. He arose at an early hour to proceed with the day’s baking, and some hours later was found lying unconscious in a scullery at the rear of liis house. Medical assistance was quickly summoned, but small hopes of recovery were entutained, and Mr Free passed away about noon. The late Air Free, who was 18 years of age, was widely known as a very genial man, and was held in high regard. He and his brother, Mr .lames C. Free, came over from the West Const some 12 years ago, to take over the butchery and bakery business of Mr W. Hibbard. The ia’te Afr Free is survived by his widow and several children,”
