WELLINGTON, Od. 27 An important elause ol the Education Amendment Bill which has been introrimed in tin* House, relate'.- to tin* registration and inspection of plicate schools, including denominational schools. The principal Act requires that all children shall attend a public or registered school, li the private school fails to secure registration, attendance at that school is not iec«»gitiscd. The Bill provides that the manager of every private school now in existence and not registered, shall apply for registration within six months. No plicate school is to he established after the passing of the Act unless application has been made for registration, and unless the premises, stall, equipment and curriculum have been approved by the Director oi Education, who will not register schools unless he is satisfied that it is efficient within ihe meaning of the Act. Every private school is to he inspected annually, and if it appears that any private school has ceased to be efficient within the meaning of the Act, the Director ol Education may remove that school irom tiie list of registered schools, failure to apply Tor registration renders the managers of private schools liable to a fine of CoO. The word “efficient" used with reference to any private school means that the premises, staff, equipment and curriculum of the school art* suitable, that the instruction afforded is as efficient as in a public school ol the same class, and that suitable provision is made for the inculcation in the minds of pupils of the sentiments of patriotism anti loyalty.
