The amateur championship was won by A. G. sime of Greymouth, who beat L. Black (Unit), five up and four to play. Sime played practically without a mistake in the first round, anil was never down on bogey. His putting was at times magnificent, and it was ill this branch, of the game that Black failed. Black was rather inclined to slice at. times, but when he hit straight he generally out drove Sime. In the second round, with six up, Sime played safe, and his golf was not so attractive as in tile morning. In the professional match E. (>. Douglas (Miramar) heat E. J. Moss (Auckland) two up. after an exceptionally good game. The professionals' consolation bogey competition was won by J. A. Clements (Napier), six down. At the conclusion of the tournament the winners wore congratulated by Mr c .1 Ronaldson, Captain of Christchurch Club. The prizes were presented hv Mrs John Montgomery. Mr AY. fi. Col be*'k (Auckland) returned thanks on behalf of flic visitors for the kindness and courtesy extended them |,v the Christchurch Club.
