f|| V TKI.KO 11 Al’ll I'KU I*ll KHS ASSOCIATION'! AfC'KI.AND. Oct. 19. The Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ t'nimi here appointed a committee to wait on Mr G. \V. Russell and Mr C. Mackenzie (candidates for Auckland East) in order to obtain an expression of their views on the matter recently placed before the Premier by the farmers’ deputation relative to retrenchment. Failing satisfactory replies, the Committee were authorised to select a candidate for Auckland East. Till' deputation waited no the two candidates to-day. They emphasised that a need for economy existed. They suggested that the Arbitration Court should be! suspended, or. in the alternative, that preference to unionists should be abolished. Mr C. Mackenzie said that he would .live bis attention, if returned, to seej', l , r that all the retrenchments promised by the Premier were carried out. lie said be did not think that the Arbitration Court could be summarily suspended, as there were contracts existing.
