(Our own correspondent.) Mr ('. H. Brice who has tilled the position of railway station master at Boss for tile past live years has been transferred to (Mira where ho "'ill act in a similar capacity. Mr mid Airs Brice, and family lef for their new local.- on Monday morning. During his say in Boss Mr Brice has proved " himself an efficient ofli. cor and a- go, si citizen, both ),e and his wife assisting in many local functions. Mr Brice has also lilieil the position of chairman of the local school committee for the past two yours.
Oil Saturday evening a- representative gathering of citizens met for the purpose of fnrewelling the departing guests. In the absence of the Mayor who was out of town, the Deputy Mayor. Mr A. W. rpjolm. presided, and in a few well chosen remarks eulogised their many good dualities and on behalf of their many friends including the railway stall' asked their aeecpt-ajn-c of a travelling rug as a token of the esteem ini which they "ere held.
Messrs (!. stent and A. IV Sharkey on behalf of the railway staff supplemented tlm previous remarks and wished Mr and Mrs Brice health and happiness in 1 lioir now* homo. Mr Brioo in replying thank™ his friends for the handsome present and kind remarks, lie deeply appreciated the many kindnesses extended to Ins wife and himself. They both regretted leaving Boss hut as they were not going oIF the Coast he hoped they would • fteii have the* pleasure of renewing the acquaintances of their Boss friends again. He specially thanked Mrs Upjohn for the trouble she had taken in providing such an excellent supper. The singing of “For They are Jolly flood Fellows” brought the function to a close. AD Bell of Hokitika succeeds Air Brice as station-master at Boss but as he is at present on holiday leave Air .T. Steele is' relieving in the meantime. Tlio usual weekly em-lire tournament look place in the Coronation Hall on Monday evening, the lady’s prize lieing won by Airs Mulvanev while Afr Buston secured tlio gents.
