AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. TITLED GERMANS. LONDON, Oct. IG. The police have unearthed a plot showing that an organised gang of jeae] thieves have begun operations in London. The gang includes men and women who are known to have both education and ability, as well as supercunning. ™ The investigations of recent large robberies have resulted in soma sensational revelations. There is proof that the thieves are being directed by men of high social standing, some indeed, who are actually in Court circles. Their identity, in fact, has become well-known, but it is stated to lie impossible at present to secure any convicting evidence. JAPAN’S TRADE ISSUES. TOKIO, Oct. Id. The Japanese Armament delegation have left Yokohama for the United States. They are accompanied by a delegation of business men under Baron Shibusawa, whose aim is the formation of Commercial Association to develop trade and to diminish competition by means of agreement. The Japanese newspapers state that the Japanese Armament delegates are carrying Japan’s armament policy to Washington. They also say that a copy of the delegates instructions, it is understood, has been handed to the Ainerican Ambassador.
BRITISH DISCUSSION. LONDON, Oct. 17. The "Daily News” states: Parliament will probably devote the coming autumn session of three or four weeks to a discussion on unemployment. The Cabinet has already encountered obstacles to remedial action owing to the world-wide condition* depressing trade. The Government is embarrassed by the problem of International Court exchange. LONDON. Oct. 16 Rt Hon A. Henderson (Labour) speaking at Edinburgh, declared that there could be no effective solution of unemployment until the International situation was faced boldly. CHURCHMEN AND H.C.L. PARIS, Oct. 12. Newspaper information states that a number of cardinals of the Roman Curia are in monetary difficulties owing to the cost of living. The Vatican has decided to come to the rescue of churchmen now within the category of the new poor, hy providing residences in an old Papal prison.
