The motion was the outcome ~r the aliened very unfair conditions which at present exist with regard to the reception of immigrants by their respective clergy on their arrival m their new eonntry mid sphere of life. As a result of the dismission a motion was unanimously passed by Synod, fl dc.-id-ed that, a copy of the motion should be immediately forwarded to tile Vft-i„.r-]>,imat<' for action ; also to the Diocese of Auckland, whose nnn"al Synod meets next week. Copies were also directed to be sent lo members of tlm Cpper House and to the members.ol Parliament in the Nelson Diocese. The motion in question runs as fol|„ws:— "Whereas it lias been brought to the notice of Synod that representatives of the Cliuidl of England have heen refused permission to hoard iinndjrrant shins Iml'me berthing at the main ports of New Zealand, mill whereas it is in the interests of good government ami lovalty that the Church which for centuries lias stood for King and country should retain its influence over its own people, who in many eases have expressed their dissatisfaction mid disappointment at not being welcomed by representatives of tlu'ir own Church, tills Syiuat enter an indignant. mol emphatic protest, and demands that representatives of the Church of England be granted the fullest faeilities for hoarding immigrant vessels on arrival, . so thill the clergy in the different districts to which immigrants are being sent may be notified immediately. This Synod desires to emphasise that the granting of such permission will bo of the greatest assistance to the Government combating the forces of disloyalty and disorder.’’
