| bog to submit the following report of work done during the past month. The drays finished gravelling the Streets about the .middle of September huty owing to the heavy traffic on some of the streets during the wet weather experienced this month they are eettiim badly cut up again and require to he gravelled afresh. I would advise putting broken metal on Fitzherhert Street anil one or two others that carry the heavy motor traffic. The large quantity of timtxr living carted into the Borough is causing an extra amount of repairs to culverts and drains and several small bridges require strengthening. During the month «e have been engaged a portion of thetime cleaning footpaths and drains in Weld Street, Park and Sale Streets. The day man and myself went to the Abattoirs on Wednesday last to take levels for drainage of paddocks but owing to heavy vain flooding the loner portion of the ground we were unable to finish the work, ’lhe County grader was employed on the South road yesterday, October 13th. cleaning off the growth ym the sides and to-day is grading in the ruts. It has made a big improvement and if some gravel-was put on now, the road would stand for some time. Several leaks in the water mains have lieen attended to, and the usual maintenance and other works have been attended to.

Estimates of works asked tor hy Council. Shed on Cass Square for water boiling- In tiiuln'r £76; In iron £B4. Cattle shelter at Abattoirs, 96ft. long.—£29. Drainage ‘Cass Square 140 ft. long £6.
