ADVANCE IN PRICES. LONDON, Oct. 11. At the B.A.W.R.A. wool sale 11,672 bales were catalogued, of which 101. l were New Zealand. R "as an excellent, representative selection. There was a crowded attendance, and competition was like that of old times: and the keenest since the war, all sections of buyers competing except America. . Compared with September closing rates in London, merinos were ten per cent higher, fine balfbreds from 10 to 1-, per cent, higher and medium and lower crossbreds 7$ per cent, higher. Faulty and shabby carbonising wools were unchanged, owing to the scarcity „f water at A'erviers. the principal scouring and carbonising centre in Rel„iuni, where tlio works are practically at a standstill. This is causing a keen Continental demand for best scoured merinos at 16 to 15 per dent, advance. DUNEDIN. Oct. 12.

Good news for New Zealand pastoralists, and for the community at large, is contained in a cablegram received tins morning by the Dunedin office of a leading firm. It states that at the London wool sales which opened yesterday. the prices were higher by . 1 per Vent, for merino. 121 per cent, for fine crossbred, 10 per i«nt. for medium and 71 per cent, for coarse. AVELLINGTON. Oct. 12.

The Wellington wool sale will he held on Friday. This will be- the last of tlio season. The quantity to 1)0 offered is 7000 bales, as allocated by the New Zealand Wool Committee. Tn view of the favourable reports of tlio. market as contained in the Press and private cablegrams, it is expected a much bettor tone than was recently anticipated will be noticeable. The following cablegram, dated London, October lltli. has been received by the Rank of New Zealand from its London office: Sales have opened with offerings of B.A.AY.U.A. wools, llioie is strong competition from a large attendance of buyers. The demand for all kinds of wool is good. Compared with the close of last series, prices for coarse crossbreds are higher by }d to Id per lb. medium crossbreds by Id to lid per lb., fine crossbreds by 1 icl to 2d per lb, and all kinds of merinos bv Id to lld per lb.
