The Organiser of tl.e Canterbury Progress League has received tlie following letter from the General Socrotarv ..f the Y.M.C.A. Christchurch, regarding a walking tour to r.ake lvanjori in the coining holidays:‘•ln further reference to our interview- 1 have pleasure in informing you that the Y.M.C.A. proposes carrying a walking tour to the West Coast for about fifty of our members during the Christmas and New- Year holidays. We are making it an annual practice to organise a. tour to some scenic part ot New Zealand and as we believe that this is in accordance with tho aims of vmu- Coague, we hope that we may have tho benefit of your assistance in a ,iv arrangements which may lie neccs-

On the following day. the walk will he to Kjiuvmrn., and on the third clay wo shall walk to Knmara Junction, train to Hokitika, and then walk to Lake Nanion. AVe propose to remain at the Lake for three or four days, exploring the scenery roundabout and then M(urn to Christchurch. “Tf possible, wo wish to obtain huts or shelter of some kind at Jacksons, and Knmara to avoid tho necessity of carrying tents. Ts it possible, for you to obtain from your AVost Coast Committee information as to our Iw-st method of procedure? ff so. we shall greatly appreciate your assistance. “An even more important point is, can von kindly obtain permission for our part-v to use the Government aceummodation lint at. Lake Kanieri from ‘2Stli December to the Ist January, inclusive? AV.' shall appreciate the information as to the capacity of tho Government lint for camping. Tn conclusion, we should greatly uppieriate being able to work through your West (Jonsk Committee if the latter will kindly lend us their auspices."
