The attendance was 78,000. The day's racing produced several surprises, particularly in the Metropolitan Handicap, which was regarded as a foregone conclusion for David. Cuniston also performed disappointingly, nanv expecting the chestnut to emulate Cupidon’s performance on Saturday.
The time registered in the Breeders’ plate was a record for the race. Shots Handicap.-Greenstoad 1* Wish Wynne 2, Biluonbah 3. There were 13 starters. Greenstead assumed charge early and shook off all opposition." Won hv half a length. Time i.m. Grantham Stakes—Honey Bee J, l'elaw Main 2, Even Song 3. There were diglit starters. Couiston was greatly fancied but was never noticeable. Honey Bee won by a length and a half. Time 1.551.
Metropolitan Handicap. Laddie Blue 1, Prince Sandy 2, Erasmus 3. The lion-startets were Kennaquihar, Sardis, Eren Song. Karl Derby Calid. Swift Shot was left at the post. Wirreway, Prince Sandy and Whizz Bang were the first out. When leaving the straight Peroration had a fair lead oil the field. Fairy Bob. Sand Bee, and Syce Kniglit overhauled him at the six furlongs post David was in the rear. Syce Kniglit then moved up, and led into the straight hy two lengths. He was then challenged by Evince Sandv at the half distance. Then Laddie Blue made a run with dangerous rivals on every side, and secured the verdict by half a leff&th, the same distance separating second and third. Time 2.45}. First Steeplechase.—Bine Bark f. Mulgawillah 2. Grand Foote 3. Fourteen starters. Three horses fell, but there were no injuries. The winner won by 12 lengths. Time 0.24}. Breeders’ Plate. —Sal rue 1, Bellamha 2. Limestone 3. Sixteen starters. The winner mine away at the half distance and won hy three lengths. Time 1.0.
Squatters Handicap—Print-es Charles 1. King Forest 2, Keneppi! 3. Fifteen starters. Won by a length and a half. Time 8.21}.
