A Portuguese plot.
FOILED AT ELEVENTH HOUR. AUSTRALIAN ANI) N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. LISBON, Oct. 2. A revolutionary plot was discovered and rendered abortive at the eleventh hour. The movement had been long in preparation, and aimed at uniting the military and civil elements discontented with the Government, principally among Republican extremists and political groups who failed to seen re a parliamentary representation. Tho revolution was planned to start on the morning of October Ist. The Premier meanwhile was informed and, employing loyal troops, forestalled the movement. Some oi those implicated fled, and others wore arrested. Order prevails in Lisbon and elsewhere. A Government official note states die authorities knew ot the movement and took the necessary measures lor the uirest of those responsible for the plot, who will he brought to justice.
