Mr Ward congratulated the .Minister on ihe progress being made with Otira tunnel, and complimented him on the attention given to South Westland bridges. The following County matters were referred to: — Repairs to Kokatahi bridge. Proposals for erecting Wailio bridge. XecessPy of a grant for 'Harris Greek bridge (( hristehureh Road).
A rah lira River protection The deputation urged the expenditure of the following votes: — Bruce Ray Landing. Slippery Face deviation. Bindier’s Road extension. Evans Road improvement. Kokatahi Road drainage. Ea Fontaine Road extension. McArthur Road construction. Petersen Road extension. White Road improvement. Kanieri Eake Road widening. Mt. Tiihua track and road construction and extension. Proposed arterial highway from Hokitika to Haast Pass. ~ The Minister promised to go into t. e several matters and said lie would do what he could. He said he recognised the importance of road connections. but the attention would he governed by the funds available. Where the people or the local body was assisting, he would do the best he could, v. Mr Ward expressed thanks tor tin friendly nature of the reply, stating the people would he grateful it the help ask nl for could he extended. HON H. E. MICHEL. Hoi. 11. L.
