R.S.A. waited on members <»f Parliament and placed before them the Associations proposals for increasing pensions of all men suffering from ”>(.) per cent or greater disability and dependants. Major-General Russell (president) briefly outlined tin* objeets, and reminded members of the intention underlying the War pensions Act as outlined by Sir .1. Allen in the House* in 1917, when lie used the following words -‘‘What wo have attem] ted to do is to consider tin* working man in receipt of good wages and under our pension scheme to provide that he should be. if he has a wife and children, in most instances better off under the pension than he was when he was earning his daily wage.” Riis<c|] reminded members that the men for whom lie was speaking were those who through disability wore unable to take advantage of tin* soldiers settlement and repatriation benefits.
Messrs iTi-Donald. J.endley. Long and Smith, (members of the Executive) went into details as outlined at the Conference and the members of Parliament thanked them for their clear exposition of a vwiy good ease. Sept. 2T An important civil action, regarding the supply of milk to the City Corporation by the Wellington Hairy Karmers* Co-operative Association is being heart! in the Supreme Court to-day. TW* Association is claiming sums totalling LAO3S Ss Sd, upon three clauses of action; (1) that the Corporation had ►paid lower rates than agreed upon ; '2) that one of the scales used in weighing milk at tin* city depot was incorrect inasmuch a* I- gallons were recorded as 41, and (3) that the Corporation had wrongly made a charge, of LAO Ms for tie* e*-**. of cans employed in supplying miß\.
