Tlie following was the draw for the first round:Kumarn (B). v. Rinm. Kiwis (A.) v. Excelsiors. Kiwis (B) v. Kumnra (A). Tire following represented Kumarn (B): -Martin, Fox, Aydcn, Wright, Fitzgerald, Murthn ,T., MoEnaney. Rim,i ■.—Wells, O’Connor, Nnneckivell. Hager. Griffiths, Adams Willough--1) V. ’ Rinm kicked off the ball being returned by Wright. Wells fielded well and passed to O’Connor who missed a good chance. Ayden was penalised for tiST-side in a good position and Nnncekivell kicked a good goal; Rinm 3. Kumarn; 0. From the kick-off Wells secured and hv a fast run -scored. Nnwckivell converted; Rinm 8, Klima rn 0. Kiiniara forwards put in some good work but the opposition was too strong. From a line-out Willoughby secured and a good pass to Wells enabled the latter to score again. Nancckivoll failed with the kick. Rinm 11 Kumnra 0. Time was then ealled. Air Gilloly was referee.

’ll,is was the best- game of the day, being very fast and open. Kiwis kicked off. Riiss fielding and by a good line kink put tlie ball out in the Kiwis twenty-live. From the line out Shannon got possession put in a very fast rim for about 10 yards, and with no opposition to heat lie passed to Geoige who knocked on and spoilt a sure try. At half-time there was no score, Kiwis defending. From the kick oir Ross (Kiwis) fielded well and returned the hall to Wogan N. who passed to M’ogan A. and lie made a great effort hut failed to score being stopped by Stevens who picked up and kicked for the lino. From tlie throw-in Bethuiq, secured and attempted a wide pass to Ross. Shannon cleverly intercepting it scored an excellent In’ just on time. Ross failed to convert. Air T. Stool was referee.

Kiwis look the field with five nun and put up a good fight hut the odds wore too great. Good work by Stevens (Kumarn) wlm passed to Steel and lie centred resulted in a try. Cherry fulled with lh" kick. Kumnra 11, Kiwis 0. From the kick off Stevens returned to Steel who made a good effort, but a spec hv Jones put the hall out. From the line out Stevens got possession and with a pass to fVebock who passed to Steel ended in a good try. Cherry failed with the kick. Kumnra fi. Kiwis 0. The game was not. brilliant, hut was full of incident, the Wellington hacks playing a line defensive game. CTTRTSTCTTPRCH, Sept. 21. There was a big erowd at the Kngfish Park this afternoon to witness the , first Ladies’ Tnterprovinefal Soccer foot hall match ever played in Canterbury. Tli,. teams (Wellington and Canterbury were loudly cheered as they came on the field from the dressing shed. The girls took the game very seriously, and the crowd was well entertained. Canterbury won by one goal to nil.
AUSTRALIAN LADIES’ MATCH SYDNEY, Sept. 25. A ladies’ league football match in Sydney drew 5,000 spectators. \ ladies’ soccer match in Brisbane drew 10.000 spectators. The play was lively. Tries were plentiful, but goals were scarce. Tt was curiosity more than the play, that attracted the crowds. AVAR AT AHS WIN AGAIN.. LONDON, Sept. 24. At League football the Australasians defeated Hull Kingston Rovers 'it 2i points to fi. The weather was fine, and the attendance was 13.000. In the early stages of the game, the Rovers wore vigorous and fiery, tut the visitors soon penetrated the home defence, and thence they kept the upper hand. At half-time the Austalasians w:-c 13 and the Rovers 2. Blinkhorn. Cmv and Herder secured tries, and Norman converted two. Bradshaw got a penalty goal for the Rovers. Shortly after the start of the second spell, as the result of illegal pla>, Bradshaw kicked two more penalties for Hull. The visitors, however, i inintained their superiority, to the end. Holder was particularly brilliant, adding three tries, two of which Norman converted.
