The statement of the receipts and expenditure showed that the Club opened the financial year with a dehit lialauco of L'ti.T'J. which was reduced to L' 174 at the end of the season. The net receipts were 25,742. and the net expenditure 25,555. Stakes accounted for 12.501), and taxation and rates for CI.SI 7. The total of the liabilities was 24.949, and the value of the assets, C 5.225. The balance to credit ol prolit and loss account was Cl 77 15s It'd. Mr Williams in moving the re.'Option and adoption of the report- and balance sheet, tool; occasion to welcome Mr AY. A. Thompson again to their n coting. Mr Thompson had a great record tin present being his 54th annual meeting of the Club. They looked forward always with great pleasure in seeing him at the successive meetings. The Chairman congratulated the Club on the past year’s work and they could look forward with every con ft do tire to the future. B.V Christmas 1022 Arthur's Pass tunnel would he in operation for general traffic and then the sport on the Const would receive . a great- impetus hy reason of the increased patronage both as regards owners and public from outside. The Club was (|iiite ready to receive the mfluxthe improvement scheme now being practically complete, and they could accommodate both largo fields and a greatly increased attendance. In the past they had increased their stakes, mid the Government taxation had gone up. The training track would ho ready for the coining race mooting. Air Williams t film ted Air Soddon. for what the latter had done in providing Does and shrubs and assisting to improve the appearance of the grounds. They were sorry, he was sure, to lose the "services of Mr Fane, their ex-Clerk of the Course. Air Fane’s health was not wood at present but they would all join in wishing him a speedy return to improved health. The Chairman went on to say how much they had appreciated the assistance given by Die ladies in conducting Hie refreshment department, and the Club would be grateful always for the generous sort ioos given so enthusiastically. The day before he (the Chairman) had paid a visit to the racecourse and ho had to compliment the caret a her (Mr Fowler) on the splendid appearance of everything. Speaking of the Racing Commission. Mr AYilliams said the personnel of that body was of a very high order. Although this Club had not received hack the day taken from it hy the 1910 legislation. they would all regard Iho roport as a very able one and hoped it, would he adopted. The report set up a fresh and higher standard which should put the conduct of racing in the Dominion on a higher plane still. Personally, said the Chairman, he had to thank the officials for the assistance and support given him. Every courtesy had been extended, and there was never an v t roil hie or f riel ion. ! here Was a line esorit de corns among the officials, and it was a pleasure to be associated with them. Mr C. .1. P. Sellers seconded the motion. They would regard the fin.in-ml position satisfactorily.
