THE WASHINGTON CONFERENCE. * WASHINGTON, Sept. 19 Mr Hnglies iSecretary of State - ) replied to the Ear Eastern Government’s request for admittance to the Washington Conference, that in the absence of a single recognised Russian Government the protection of legitimate Rus sian interests must devolve as a moral trusteeship upon the whole Conference. It is not conceivable that the Coifference will make a decision prejudicial to legitimate Russian interests.
JAPAN ACCEPTS AMERICAN SUGGESTION. TOKIO, Sept, 19. There is apparently a well-founded report in official circles that the Japanese Government lias accepted all the American suggestions for the agenda at the Armament Conference. The “Hoolii Sliimhuii” states that the .Japanese delegates will be instructed to advance the principle »f mutual recognition of freedom of commerce and residence in the Pacific area, with a view to establishing the principle of freedom and equality among Pacific peoples.
