FATTY ARBUCLLE
A USritALIAN AND N.Z. CAIiLE ASSOCIATION. INTERESTING DF.VKI.OI’M ENTS. NKW YORK, Sept 13. The chief witness against Arbuckle ha- mysicrioiisly disappeared. When the inquest' was resumed Mrs Delmont, who laid the murder complaint failed to substantiate the first story. She now says that Arbuckle merely followed Rappe into the bedroom, closed' the door and did not drag her ill. She described Rappe as tearing off her own clothes. The inquest proceedings became rather farcical when Mrs Delmont grew sleepy on tile witness stand, and told the Coroner haltingly she took a. hypodermic injection before coming into the court.'
The Grand Jury announced that it cannot indict Arbuckle until it obtains further evidence regarding certain mutators which must he cleared up.
The prosecuting Attorney announced that several women witnesses before the Grand Jury reversed themselves com'erning what happened in the room where Rappe received the injuries. The Attorney declared that he will ask for the prosecution of these witnesses on the ground of perjury, and if the Grand Jury fails to indict them he will proceed to the prosecution of Arbuckle under the Police Court charge of murder.
