SAN FR2PNCISCO, Sept. !?■ Roseoe ' (“Fatty”) Arbuekle, the cinema star, has been detained by the police as the result of the death ot Miss Vir.dnia Rappe, a beautiful movie actress who died of peritonitis, following a party in Arbuekle*. room, where at she had several drinks. The police point out that the Calnor„ia laws provides that a charge of murder shall he entered against anyone taking life during an attempt to commit a felony. A nurse who was attending Miss Rappe Claims the actress stated that she had been assaulted. Arbuekle. upon the advice of his Counsel, refuses to say anything, hut, before being informed that the police desired an interview with luni, he had declared that after the actress rook the drinks, she became hysterical, and tore her clothes off her body, and compelled him to call a physician.
