COATPENSATTOX CLAIM. AUCKLAND. Aug. 30. The Supreme Court to-day heird a claim for £2OO compensation by the widow of George Black, who was killed during shunting operations at Erankion Junction. Plaintiff's case was that ( the accident ocurred through the deceased's inexperience in shunting. In ■ that the Scpartment was at fault in engaging Black for this particular work, the Department contended Black was guilty of contributory negligence, end that bo accepted the risk involved in shunting. After hearing evidence, ..’ustiee Stringer said he was not satisfied that ground for the action had been established. Plaintiff was formally non-suited. His Honour adjourned tho case to Hamilton, so that the question of a non-suit could be further argued before him there.
