The National Catholic Welfare Council of America has anounced that the pope approves of the Conference. The Association has revealed that the Pope, in his Peace Note of August, j 1917,' proposed the establishment of , the status quo ante bellum, and also | disarmament, but President \\ ilson sent a reply so discouraging that the Pope did not publish as he had intended, the details of his programme for disarmament .
