A sprinkle of rain in the early morning hradly affected the wicket which was still good. The half century took 70 minutes and the century 110 minutes. After the luncheon interval, the batsmen hit out, but good fielding kept down the score and both men were miss cd at the wicket off Mailev. McDonald eventually broke the partnership at 108, White failing to negotiate n full Vi itch. Cotisidine’s innings was a line defensive effort. Johnson opened by knocking twenty off McDonald in six hits before the howler found his wicket. Then the batting became very slow and the howlers began to take a steady toll.
