[by TELEGRAPH—PER PRESS ASSOCIATION] A QUESTION OF ROUGH PLAY. INVERCARGILL. Aug. 24 Tlie Southland R.F.U. at its weeklv meeting discussed the statements of Mr W. I awson with regard to rough play in the Springboks match, in which lie stated that the play of a South land player had been investigated. Mr A. J. Geddos (Chairman) said that he was not aware that ail inquiry had been held into the play of any Southland player, and a motion was carried drawing the attention of the New Zealand Rugby Union to'the report of Mr Lawson’s remarks, and asking if the parent body approved of his statements; n”d that if any inquiry had been held, Copies of the evidence to he submitted to Southland Rugby Union, together i with the name of the player. Should the New Zealand Rugby Union know nothing of the inquiry it was asked to deny the statements-through the Press. LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
