BANNED LITERATURE.
WELLINGTON, August 19. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day. Goorgo Wilkinson was sentenced to terms of imprisonment amounting to two months, William Blair was fined £25, in default two months’ imprisonment, and Miss Hedwic W«itzel, B. A., (Victoria University) was fined £lO for selling seditious literature. Miss Weitzel is an art student at Victoria College. William Blair was charged with having sold to Constable Dawe on June 2, “The Australian Communist,” which encourages violence and lawlessness contrary to War Regulation No 4 of September 20th., 1915, and with having similarly sold “The Internationa] Com munist” and “Knowledge and Unity” and “Inside Soviet Russia,” the importation of which is prohibited by an Older in Council and Hedwic Weitzel was charged with selling to Constable McKay a copy of “The Communist.”
