At the Supreme Court to-day, George Snlvin Thomas, aged 19, and George Andrew M’Williams, aged 20, on six charges of breaking and entering, and theft, were each sentenced to six months’ imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be cumulative. Each was declared an habitual criminal. James Cameron Brown, on a charge, of false pretences at Napier and Dunedin, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment and declared an habitual criminal. Frederick Edward Clarks, a Maori, charged with theft, was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment and declared a habitual criminal. Thomas William Ellis (for forgery) and Sebastian Samuel Crawford V albs, a Government servant, on two charges of theft, were both admitted to probation. DUNEDIN, August 16. Helen Sinclair Macdonald, aged 1-. who admitted two charges of counselling forgery of her brother's name on an Auckland savings hank account,, was imprisoned for three months, with a recommendation that she should he placed in an industrial institution. John Robert.
